last night I slipped on a little piece of ice
and I went to st. joseph's hospital where I spent most of the night
to get my dislocated finger put back
and it was painful and my nerves were fuckin wracked

covid is raging and the waiting room was jammed
and the hospital was in disarray and it was understaffed
and the place was full of people who refused the vaccination
but everyone on staff was kind to me in spite of the situation

but now I'm facing four to six weeks
without the use of my hand and it feels pretty bleak
I can't play my piano or guitar
and I can't type of chop vegetable and it's hard to take a shower
and I can't hold your hand
